More EXIF/IPTC data please

Martijn

I'd like it to display more EXIF/IPTC data on the right side of my pictures.

For instance, I've gone through some lengths to fill out the Country, City, Province, Sublocation. For each and every one of my pictures. Being holiday pictures, this is quite important. None of these fields show.

Koken needs to be able to display MUCH more fields, and which fields needs to be selectable. Preferably on a per-folder basis even. But let's start by adding those fields.

Martijn – we’ve found that the majority of people actually prefer to NOT display extensive EXIF data or any EXIF data at all. If you wanted something more than what we provide in our themes then you could build your own with all the EXIF outputs you want using our Lens tags and variables.

Hence why I suggested selectable fields. That way Koken could satisfy both kinds of users - those who want many fields displayed, and those who do not.

Having said that, your response makes it seem like the theme is what controls which fields are displayed... Is that really so? Would my custom theme be able to display EXIF/IPTC fields that are nowhere to be found even in the backend?... If so, then I'll do that (at least for now).

Correct. It’s the template in a theme that controls what’s published. Obviously some elements in a page are editable through the site editor inside Koken, but that requires setup by the theme’s designer. As for displaying the fields, the metadata would have to be parsed and saved to the database in order for the theme to retrieve it, so no a theme can’t retrieve metadata from an image itself. That data comes from the database. If you go to help.koken.me you’ll find resources on Lens tags/variables to see how this data is published.
