API Error with Theme Preview

Vincent Besanceney

Mar 17, 2013 04:01AM EDT

Greetings all,

I get the following error when I select and preview a theme:

"API Error
The theme is not able to contact Koken's API. Ensure that your host is not blocking loopback connections."

Note that I'm using the backend through https.

Best regards,

Vincent – Does the published site work properly? Can you send me a login to your admin at support[at]koken.me so I can take a look?

Same here. In HTTP or HTTPS.
Sometimes, it's like the cache is written et I can see a empty website, but on refresh there is again "API Error ...."

I've also had this message when koken is installed in a password protected folder. My hosting doesn't use loopback connections (mediatemple). Tried emailing support here but no reply?

Two things to check if you have this issue:

1) Make sure you have not setup any password protection on the Koken folder, either via your host’s control panel or your .htaccess file. This interferes with Koken so it should be disabled.

2) Check with your host to see if they block loopback connections. If so, Koken will not work on this server at this time.

If neither of those apply, email us an FTP login to support[at]koken.me and we’ll take a look.

3) Make sure you don't have a shitty SSL certificate who make error like this (my case) :
Error : SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed
To solve this, renew your certificate or add this :
curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE);
Line 290 in Koken.php to avoid the checking of your certificate
