Database connection error: Access denied for user 'xxxxxx'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Hello there!

While I tried to install Koken on a webserver I noticed that the installer isn't able to establish any connection to the database if there are special characters in the DB password.

Currently I'm using a password that includes an asterisk (*), a sign of exclamation (!) and a percent sign (%) in my password.

My hosting provider allows me to set only one password for all my databases. That's because I can't set another password. Many websites and blogs will crash immediately and I have to change all DB passwords in all configurations very quickly.

Would you allow spechial characters in DB paswords in future?

Greetings from Switzerland

Ralph – I just tried a test setup with a MySQL password with all of those characters and did not have an issue. What versions of PHP and MySQL are you using?

Hi there – it's MySQL Server version 5.5.28 with PHP 5.2.17. My passwort that I used initially had all three characters (%, ! and *). Hope this helps.
