rss displays "un-listed" galleries

gene

Sep 09, 2014 05:32PM EDT

I noticed today that my RSS feed is displaying galleries that are supposed to be unlisted.

Can this be stopped?

I can't very well have my feed displaying client photos.

Gene – that shouldn’t be the case. By “gallery” do you mean album? And if so, have you checked the images in the album to make sure they (themselves) are unlisted? I ask because unlisted albums can have both public and unlisted content in them, technically speaking.

So are you saying that images uploaded into an "unlisted" album do not inherit that setting?
,,, I have to go through and manually "unlist" each photo I ever upload into it?

That doesn't make a lick of sense to me. If I put images into an unlisted album, then clearly I would want those images not to be public.... If for some reason I did want specific items to be public, then I could manually change those black sheep images,, ,but the default I should expect to be inherited from the album itself, otherwise it becomes a lot of work and lots of room for mistakes where a client's image is public that should never go public.

That's how lawsuits happen.

“So are you saying that images uploaded into an “unlisted” album do not inherit that setting?"

Actually no, not what I’m saying. New content that is imported into an unlisted album is set to unlisted automatically. That way the content matches the visibility of the parent album. I was asking to check the visibility of the content in the album to make sure that they were indeed set to unlisted and that it wasn’t a simple case of thinking they should be unlisted when in fact they were not.

Yes, I understood your question.
and you were correct.. those images within the "unlisted" albums were indeed set for "public"... However i did not set them that way.. In fact ALL the images were set "public".

My question about inheritance was the next logical question since I seem to have "unlisted" albums that are all full of "public" photos.... (in fact all of them have the issue) So the added images apparently are not inheriting the status of the album they are in.

Note: I upload all my images via LR plugin... so possible it's something about the plugin that is preventing inheritance from occurring?

Okay, yeah I think I see what’s happening now. Looks to be something with the LR plugin for adding an image to the album through the browser makes it unlisted as expected but the plugin isn’t behaving the same. We’ll take a look!
