Feature Req: Ability to select a photos from single/multiple albums as slideshow in essays

Aug 15, 2014 02:19PM EDT

Okay, this is a feature request but if I'm using the system incorrectly or missed something, some direction would definitely be appreciated.

What I'm trying to do:
- I have an album called "Clouds" which has say, 20 photos.
- I went out for a walk today and took 8 new photos of clouds.
- I want to write an essay/"blog post" about today's walk and share these 8 photos (pref as a slideshow).
- I also want these photos filed under the "Clouds" album.

Problem I'm encountering:
- If I want a slideshow, it will show all 28 photos if I select "Clouds" as the album.
- Only alternative is to manually add the 8 photos to the essay so they appear individually.

What I'd like and I think would be useful:
Maybe the slideshow can be extended to select individual photos within an album/fav/recent import? Even better, it can be a slideshow that allows arbitrary images from any album? So in the example use case above, I could write an essay and post a slideshow of all the photos I took today regardless of whichever album they are now filed under.

Melissa – Best way to do this is via a “Quick collection”. Select the images, drag them to the “Quick collection” label in the left column. Then, when creating your essay and adding the slideshow, use the “Quick collection” item to add the content. One thing to note is that this uses the content in the quick collection at the time you embed the slideshow, so if you change the quick collection later it won’t affect the content in that slideshow.

Would the slideshow be affected if I "delete" the quick collection later?

Nope, it would remain untouched. When you insert the slideshow, it embeds the images currently in the collection, then forgets about the collection altogether, so you are free to modify it and use it for something else.
