Ready for Prime time?

Hi Guys,
I tried quite a few photo library content management systems and was just ready to commit to one, until I came across Koken. What a wonderful tool. I think it is the best I've seen by a long shot to present your photos in a beautiful way.
The installation is also probably the fastest and easiest I've seen.
Now to the tough question. Is this really ready for prime time? I've installed Koken on my Linux server without any problems. The front-end always displays and renders photos beautifully in various browsers and mobile devices without any hick-ups.
But the back-end causes me real trouble. I don't seem to be getting consistent behaviour, and different browsers show even a different status of the site at the same time. I am trying Chrome, Firefox, IE (all latest versions on Windows 8.1) and various tablet browsers (Dolphin, Chrome, FireFox).
Examples:
- I create a new set or album in the Unlisted Category, but it creates it in the public category.
- I create two or three albums, but only the first shows. I import photos into the Unlisted category. They never show up, but I can see them in the Last Import Category.
- I change the visibility status of a library from public to unlisted, a message pops up to confirm the change, but the library does not appear us unlisted.
- If I open another browser, sometimes I can see some changes I've applied, but not all.
- Sometimes, after 5, or even 10 minutes everything show up properly, but I am never sure. If I then change something else, the same may happen again.

As great as Koken appears to be, and I would really like to use it, at the moment I don't have confidence that the back-end works in any predictable way.

So that is my experience. I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong. I've read all the documentation and discussion threads, my server is stable and appears to run Koken well. I am not aware if there are any parameters I can use to tune something or what else to do.

Thanks for reading.

- I create a new set or album in the Unlisted Category, but it creates it in the public category.

That’s actually how things currently work. All new albums created in the library are public by default (they don’t show up on your site if they’re empty, so no worries there). You’d then need to change it to unlisted after the fact.

- I create two or three albums, but only the first shows. I import photos into the Unlisted category. They never show up, but I can see them in the Last Import Category.

Hard to say what’s happening there for they should be creating fine. Same goes for the unlisted import. I tried it out on my end just to make sure and it seemed okay, so perhaps there’s something I’m missing. We’re happy to sign-in to your installation and give it a try if you’d like to get in touch with us directly: http://help.koken.me/customer/portal/emails/new

Not sure what you mean by “library” in this context. The Library doesn’t have a visibility setting, but rather the content it manages — albums, sets, images, videos, etc.

In general, keep in mind that Koken is technically a “public beta”, and due to the fact that the software can be installed on a myriad of server types and configurations there may be technical issues on the backend that are beyond our control.

Ok, understand.

I meant album, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yep, fully understand. The great news is, I rebooted the server, and MySQL Server probably more importantly, and everything seems to work again as expected, i.e. nothing I reported above still happens. So, I can't really tell what was wrong, but it disappeared after the server reboot.

Many thanks for looking into the issue. Very happy again. Looks like it is ready for primetime :-)
