Pictures aren't displayed at all or pixelated

Apr 20, 2017 02:10PM EDT

Hello everybody,

since about two weeks I experience some problems, that sometimes no images are displayed or some pictures are displayed pixelated.
Rotating the pictures or clearing system and image cache helps, but only for a short time. Text based sites like „about me“ are affected, too.
Sometimes it takes very long to open a page or an album. Other albums load fast which I consider as „normal“.

I use a self-hosted instance on an up-to-date Debian 8 with PHP 7.1.3. I tried 5.6.30 and 7.0.17 but still the same problems.
Image library is Imagick 6.8.9-9. ImageMagick 6.8.9 and GD bundles 2.10 produce the same errors.
Webserver is Apache 2.4.10 and Koken 0.22.20.

I can’t find anything regarding these problems in the server logs. Access logs shows that on opening an album page the thumbnails are accessed and don’t throw any errors.
Deleting the whole cache dir doesn’t helped either.

Is there any known problem with the image library or is it a problem regarding Koken? Or is it a misconfiguration from my side somewhere?

I consider this as urgent.

Thanks for your help

Try changing your default PHP settings to these:

upload_max_filesize = 256M
post_max_size = 256M
max_execution_time = 120
memory_limit = 256M
max_input_time = 120

Try enabling CodeIgniter’s logs by editing the ‘app/application/config/config.php’ file. Two settings; log_threshold & log_path need to be set.

Watch the server logs for errors, timeouts, or out of memory issues; that’s a good step towards tracking down your issue.

I uploaded a log snippet with severity ERROR here

Other messages were just debug messages that he loaded classes or helpers.

There aren't any timeouts or memory issues logged.
