Information about koken´s future

May 15, 2015 07:52AM EDT

After I already have two installations of koken running I just wanted to buy another theme & plug-ins – and now I hear that koken seems to be dying. Of course I will not invest in an unsupported system.
It seems the store is still active, you can spend money there, but support seems to be dead already for some weeks. Is that true?

Thanks for informations,

Hi Andreas

Yes, that seems to be true. A lot of users are in the same situation as you. I don't think you'll get any answers from the koken team.

That are really bad news (rumors). Koken has the potential to be great. Hopefully there will be a future of koken.

To the koken team: Would be really cool if you have the courage to talk to us, who are the early supporters of this new CMS. There should be a way to get this to 1.0

So I also really like to get some information of the future of koken.

Hi all – Koken is not dead, the rumors aren’t true :)

However, what was once a team of three full-time developers is now down to one (me). Obviously, I’m having trouble keeping up with the demands of both supporting users and continuing to develop the product. I’ve devoting the rest of this week in trying to work through the support backlog for paying customers, and from there can begin planning work for the next release.

Thank your for hanging in there with Koken, here’s the better days ahead!

Brad - Thanks for your words, that calms down it all down.

Maybe ist would be a help for you, when you make a bit more transparency in future. what are known issues/bug, new features, etc. I believe, that could reduce a lot of support-questions, what would result in more time to develop and support for you.

and if its all be to much for one person, we could force the community-support from Bjarne. or you make a poll/blog post, and we koken users can vote or discuss, what to set on priority.

best regards,

It hardly seems fair, or viable, for a single person to do the work of three. What are your thoughts to throwing open the doors and making it open-source?

Brad, nice to hear from you. Perhaps think about making the support commercial and take a partner for that. I Think many people would pay for a good support. Some other companys like are going this way.

Open source is nice. But you can't pay your flat with facebook likes...

Hi Brad,

That is good the hear. Thanks for your commitment to Koken. I too would consider paying for support if I felt the product would be sustainable. As artist I think it is important to support those creating.
Regular income would make it more attractive a venture for you and any others in the future.

Brad – me too would like to express my admiration for the great work you do. I understand you can not do this on your own so you must charge us for the product/support in order to expand the team. I will be happy to do my – reasonable – part.
