Cache floods webserver

I have a cache problem with koken. I already used the search function, but there are way too much topics ;-).

I am at the same webhoster for years now. Until the last year I used gallery to present my photos on Then I switched to koken. A very good idea, I think. But.... nearly every day the webservers runs full. I only have one 1GB of Webspace. The installation of koken and the until now uploaded pictures are using about 160MB. After a day or two the 1GB limit is reached. If I try to upload a picture the preview will not be created. If I go on uploading or tagging the whole homepage collapses. The albums can't be displayed in the browser, imrepssum and links too. So I have to delete the cache via Filezilla. The path is: /htdocs/koken/storage/cache/api.
So, is there any way to limit the cache or (my preferred one) to disable the cache completely? A product with more webspace from my hoster would be too expensive for me.

Thanks for your help and congrats for the great product (but the cache handling ;-) )
