Admin 404 and Essays error 500

My site is having issues displaying the essays page although individual blog posts work fine.

Essay page here:

but when you go to

I get an Internal error 500.

I went to admin panel to clear the caches and try and update. but since then I've been unable to get back to the admin panel, it redirects to a 404 page. Update failed as it said I needed to apply a chmod 777 on all files and folders.

So I'm sort of stuck at the moment.

Hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction.

Regards, Mike.

Hello ,

Those types of errors that happen after a period of activity (uploading images, etc) typically go away after a period of time. The errors are usually due to your host’s resource limitations.

As Koken is self hosted the first step is to contact your hosting company’s tech support to see if they’re having a problem or if they made any changes to the server software. Check with them to see if you’re exceeding any of their quotas or your server has some sort of resource cap you are running into. Also ask them what kind of error messages are in their logs.

Thank you.

No changes where made to either the site or the hosting.

No bandwidth issues or permissions problems with the files/folders.

Just getting the "500 internal system error" when trying the /essays/ url.

/admin/ is still redirecting to the 404 page.

Is there a debug flag or debug to file within koken so I can at least troubleshoot?

Its been over 24 hours now. If it was going to fix itself it should have done by now.

Is there a way of manually applying the new update over the files rather than through the admin panel and see if that fixes it.

Any help much appreciated.

Regards, Mike.

Ok I've managed to get the admin working again.

Looks like the failed update had renamed the admin folder to ''

I renamed it back and I was able to login and updated to the latest version.

Not to try and figure out whats wrong with the essays.
