Domain name switch

Robert Robinson

Jun 19, 2017 03:08PM EDT

I presently have Koken for my site www.newrobertbaring.com, but I'm about to switch it to my other domain name I own, robertbaring.com.

Since I log into Koken at www.newrobertbaring.com/admin, once I make the switch, I'm assuming that my login url will be robertbaring.com/admin, correct? And do I need to change any of the internal Koken settings which refer to the other url before the switch?

Thanks,
Robert

Hello. Point the TLD to the folder where Koken is installed. Koken reads whatever domain name you use to access the console. Login to Koken using the new domain name, then clear Koken’s system caches (in Settings > System). Finally, connect to your server via FTP and delete the /koken/storage/cache/site folder.

As purchases are linked to a specific installation. Login to your Koken store account by visiting http://store.koken.me

Delete the old installation

Sign in to the store in your Koken installation to associate it with the new install.

then, back online, transfer the theme

OK, I've made it to logging into the Koken store, but the installation referred to there is already the new domain name (robertbaring.com). And maybe I should have asked before clearing the system caches, but I'm assuming the content and layout of my site is still there somewhere, right?

Back in Koken, I couldn't raise the Koken store by clicking "store".

So let me know how to proceed. Thanks.

I'm having trouble with the later steps. After logging in to Koken, the new address was already populated into the installation. The new address was also already in the Koken store installation page. To be clear, I'm expecting the site to come up after all these steps unchanged except for the new web address. Is that correct? The site does not come up in the browser, but reports an internal server error. When I clicked "reinstall" within the Koken store, the process wheel just endlessly rotated without changing anything.

So what next? Thanks.

Hi.

I couldn’t raise the Koken store by clicking “store”.- Please try disabling content blockers in your browser or try using Google Chrome in Incognito mode to visit the store. Incognito mode will bypass the privacy settings and allow cookies.

Purchases are linked to a specific installation, not domain name. Please follow the instructions above.
