Requesting customizable size and quality of generated medium size images

A while back I have read about image quality here and that Koken likes to give the best possible (or similar to that). I have following problem: I'm uploading photos with a max. size of 2048px and with a for me acceptable JPEG compression of 90%. What I have noticed (after seeing that I was running out of space at my web provider) is that upon uploading Koken creates a medium sized version of the photos with a size of 1600px and 100% JPEG compression. These files have a size larger than the original ones!

These mechanisms are hard coded within the file app/application/models/content.php within the Koken installation:

function _before()
{
...
$d->read($path, $this->width, $this->height)
->resize(1600)
->quality(100)
->render($midsize);
...
}

So far I'm ok with the resizing, but I'm always modifying the quality parameter to 90.

Would it be possible to make these parameters customizable, e.g. at the "Settings/Image publishing" page? That would allow for some more flexibility for different users.

Thanks and best regards,
Peter
